Workflows used to be a tool that sounded appealing, but was very hard to use for real life processes, which are full of exceptions, undefined behavior, etc. However, with AI it's suddenly possible to have workflows that are both adaptable and easier to build. The full agentic approach remains unpredictable, which doesn't fit well into an enterprise environment, so in this session we'll look at how to build enterprise grade workflows using AI, and in the process look at why software engineering as we know it is dying.

Joakim Recht is cofounder and CTO at Beyond Work where he's building a platform to automate large enterprises. Before that he was a Distinguished Engineer at Uber with focus on running stateful workloads at scale.
