Uber Aarhus is a platform engineering site. We build and maintain platforms enabling Uber to handle over a million trips per hour. That scale forces us to build excellent software. This talk covers what we consider good software, how code quality relates to good software and how we approach code reviews to maintain consistently high code quality.

We must run reliable and efficient software. We manage to do so, while maintaining and accelerating developer productivity.
A big part of the recipe for this success is code reviews, and how we leverage them to keep ourselves and each other accountable for technical excellence and software engineering fundamentals. Skills that are only becoming more relevant in an AI leverage world.

This talk will provide concrete insights about software and code quality, as well as good practices that can turn your code reviews from chore to a favorite activity.

About the presenter

Johan Abildskov is a Developer Advocate and former software engineer at Uber. 
While he used to help build enormous internal platforms at Uber, now he lives in the space between platform and product engineers.

Johan firmly believes happy and highly skilled engineers are the most productive. 
Johan is part of the Platform Intelligence charter. Our ultimate goal is that software engineers experience an AI enabled platform that feels obsessively centered around them.
